Project Scope: Basement - Remodel

Design Details: Transforming a hum-drum storage basement into an elegant and fun space for the whole family - including a kitchen & hidden storage

The Backstory: The homeowners desired an elegant adult space with a fun kids' gaming area. We designed an entertainment center with built-in shelving, Murphy door storage, a contemporary ventless fireplace, TV, and plenty of room for a comfortable sectional.  A central staircase became a feature with a pretty banister and additional storage underneath. The new space also offers a full kitchen with built-in bench seating for dining and games, delineated by an attractive knee wall. Games are near the convenient beverage storage, and a powder room is adjacent.

The room showcases a façade of built-in corner cabinetry accentuated by white textural stone cladding. “Murphy Doors” installed behind the shelving on both sides of the fireplace cover the “functional” necessities” and offer both concealed storage and display opportunities, enhancing the room's functionality and aesthetic.

The basement kitchen features shaker-style cabinetry with a clean and timeless aesthetic. The integrated appliances, including a speed oven and wine fridge make for easy access to a snack or refreshment during game time. Banquette seating creates an inviting and space-efficient dining area that can be used for meals or poker. The powder room is situated in the corner alongside additional closet storage.

In the powder room, soft gray cabinetry with furniture-style legs offers a stylistic foundation, complemented by the intricate detailing of the mirror and sconces. The marble countertop adds a touch of luxury, while the overall design creates a sophisticated and inviting space.
